Pastor Glenn Clower

Edward Glenn Clower, age 85, went home to Jesus on February 2, 2023, following a short illness. Glenn was born on January 20, 1938, to the late William (Bill) O. Clower and Willie Maude Clower of Morgan GA. He led a life of innovation that sparked change. He graduated from Morgan High School and headed to South Georgia College in Douglas. There he played baseball under Coach Bobby Bowden. Coach Bowden encouraged him to find another passion, because he just wasn't fast enough to take baseball any further. Glenn took his advice and found one. Miss Nancy Rogers would steal his heart. They were married on June 14, 1959. The two then attended Georgia Teacher's College in Statesboro. From there, Glenn took a job as the women's basketball coach at Wrightsville High School, in Wrightsville, GA. Glenn loved women's basketball, and he loved coaching, but following a family crisis, Glenn and Nancy moved back to Douglas, to help in her family's photography business. Learning as he went, he was not held back by the way things had always been done. Glenn and a small group of Georgia photographers changed the way High School Seniors where photographed. Gone were the drapes, the pearls, and the tuxedos. Glenn's photographs documented a student's experience. Though unusual for the 60s and 70s, today it is the norm. A senior will be photographed in what they feel best expresses them - be it a band uniform, football jersey, or a show pig. This is a direct result of a man having a different vision.
Life then took a sharp turn. Glenn became a born-again Christian and felt the call to full-time ministry. In 1979, he sold the business and moved the family to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he and Nancy attended Rhema Bible Training Center. He quickly became a staff photographer and began traveling with Kenneth Hagin Ministries photographing meetings across the country. After starting a youth group at Rhema and serving as an Associate Pastor at Victory Christian Center in Tulsa, it was time for another change. Glenn and Nancy returned to Georgia in 1986 as founders of Victory Christian Fellowship in Perry. For 20 years, this group of believers supported worldwide outreaches, as well as nurtured and supported men, women, and young people who would become pastors, teachers, musicians, and powerful prayer warriors. Even after his retirement in 2006, Glenn continued nurturing and supporting men, women, and young people from "The Back Porch".
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Nancy Clower; and a brother, Curtis (Curt) Clower.
Left to remember the good times and laughter are his children, Carol Tinsley, Hal Clower (Cynthia), and Debbie Clower, all of Perry; his grandchildren, Adam Parker, Cacee Clower, and Will Clower, all of Perry; his brother, Melvin Clower (Jean) of Lee County; and several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry. Services will be held Monday, February 6, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at The Vine Church, 504 Marshallville RD, Perry GA. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to The Vine Building Fund, 504 Marshallville Road, Perry, GA 31069, or Loaves and Fishes, 1117 Main Street, Perry, GA 31069.
