DAVID WALKER Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watson-Hunt Funeral Home - Perry on Feb. 7, 2026.
David Gray Walker, Sr., 78, of Perry, Georgia passed away on February 6, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 9, 1947, in Perry, Georgia to the late Hilda and Cohen Walker. He graduated from Perry High School with the Class of 1965. David married Deborah Parkinson on July 19, 1975, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this summer with Deborah and their children's families.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, David worked with his father at Gray-Walker Tractor Company and served in the United States National Guard before attending the University of Georgia Law School. After law school, David joined his brother, Larry Walker, as an attorney at Walker, Hulbert, Gray and Moore where he advised individual and organizational clients, including representing the City of Perry for many years. David loved and was so proud of his many communities-his family, friends, the Perry Methodist Church, his law firm, the Westfield Schools community, and Perry, the city where he lived his entire life, except when he was at the University of Georgia.

David loved his "couple" friends with whom he and Deborah enjoyed sharing a good meal and vacationing on trips to the mountains. He also had a wonderful group of guy friends who enjoyed going to lunch with him and telling their favorite stories, which spanned from their childhood up until today. He was a lifelong member of the Perry Methodist Church where he was a member of the Pathfinder's Sunday School Class and served in various leadership roles during his adult life. His children attended and played sports at Westfield, where David served a member and chairman of the Board of Directors. Throughout his life, as David met people from across the country, he always had stories to tell them about how wonderful a community Perry, Georgia was and how lucky he had been to grow up and spend his life there.

David enjoyed family, running, landscaping, and socializing with his many friends. He was especially proud of, and interested in, the activities and lives of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Parkinson Walker, his children, David Gray Walker (Mary Stuart), Mary Katherine Walker (Sara), and Don Parkinson Walker (Colleen), his grandchildren, Peyton, Whitney, and Dennis Gray Walker, and Bowen Thompson. He was loved by, and loved, his siblings-Larry Walker (Janice), Lynda Kelly (Bob), and Charlie Walker-and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Perry Methodist Church on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. A service to celebrate David's life will be held at Perry Methodist Church on February 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Perry Methodist Church, 1002 Carroll Street, Perry, GA 31069.

Condolences for the family may be left in the online guestbook at www.watsonhunt.com. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
