Glenn Hunter Edwards

Glenn H. Edwards, 72, of Charles Town, WV passed away Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson.
Edwards was born on March 7, 1951, in Charles Town. He was the only child of the late Glenn W. Edwards and Mary Francis Swartz Edwards. He is survived by his cousin Donald Swartz and daughter Laurel Hardy of Kabletown. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family, which included close friends, loving caretakers, and the many students he taught and coached. He leaves behind his beloved "children" which include cats, a turtle, and dozens of koi fish.
He graduated from Shepherd College in 1974 and worked as a Driver Education Teacher at Jefferson High School (JHS) for over 45 years. In addition to his teaching career, he coached many community and high school sports teams where he befittingly earned his nickname "Coach".
Edwards was an Iconic community leader, developing both the tennis and swim sports programs at Jefferson County Memorial Park. He served as the first Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Director in 1976 and coached the Hagerstown MD YMCA girl's swim team from 1978-1985. Edwards was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #948 in Charles Town, WV, and a member of the Charles Town Asbury United Methodist Church.
Celebration of Life will be held July 18, 2023, at Jefferson High School in the Gymnasium at 1:00 pm. Fellowship to follow at the Charles Town Moose. A Private Burial will be held later.
