Glenn Ferguson Obituary

Glenn Paul Ferguson, a man of few words, yet profound wisdom, born to Junior and Germaine Ferguson in Winona on February 7, 1959, took his last breath at Watkins Hospice on July 15, 2024. Graduating with honors from the Music Technical College in Minneapolis, where he honed his mastery of the guitar, Glenn's musical talents became a tapestry of beauty and emotion. He took lessons at Hal Leonard for 16 years.

His sister, Cheryl Ferguson, was his constant companion and confidante, sharing in his joys and sorrows until the end. Glenn's heart resonated with a rare humor, known to sprinkle laughter and light wherever he roamed. He shared a special bond with his brother, Ron, who stood by his side through it all.

Glenn is survived by his sister, Cheryl Ferguson; brother-in-law, Stan Grossman, and brother, Ron Ferguson.

Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Junior and Germaine Ferguson.

Committal services will take place on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Chapel, then proceeding to the graveside where he will be laid to rest near his parents.

Thank you to the staff at Winona Health as well as Marian and Caitlyn at Watkins Manor Hospice Team.

It's green again at Petree's greenhouse at 100 Vine Avenue in Montgomery. Only this time, it's not Lehman and Rita Petree whos green thumbs are making it bloom, but a man by the name of Glenn Ferguson , owner of Ferguson Flowers Forever.

Glenn opened his greenhouse a few weeks ago and is excited at the prospect of running his own greenhouse.

"I've been wanting to do this for eight to ten years now, " he said.

Glenn, who is from Winona and has lived in Veseli has studied at perennial and annual flower farms for many years prior to opening his shop.

"The year before last I worked in the horticulture department at a zoo in Columbia, South Carolina," he said. "I moved here and started working at Bachman's in Apple Valley, not so much for the money, but for the experience."

Glenn offers several different types of perennial plants in his greenhouse that his is renting from the Petree's. In fact, he is still receiving new flowers and will be receiving them in the next few weeks.

"I've always liked flowers," he said in an interview on Thursday, while he deadheaded and checked each plant. "My sister has a huge perennial back yard, and that got me started. Besides I like the feel and it is something I enjoy."

Glenn said it is therapeutic for him to work with flowers, and it makes him happy when his customers take a piece of what he has grown to their garden to enjoy.

He said he opened at the Petree Greenhouse because he felt it was important that people in Montgomery has a local place to shop for flowers.

"I try to tell customers that I'm trying to offer something locally so they done have to drive a half an hour to get their plants."

Even though it is summer now, Glenn said he will also offer fall flowers like mums, azalea and pumpkins.

In addition to his greenhouse services, Glenn said he also offers landscaping and waterfall installation.

Ferguson Flowers Forever are open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 to 5:30 pm and Sunday 10 am to 5:30 pm.
