Glenn Herbert Koogler passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, after a long period of physical and mental decline caused by Alzheimer’s disease. He was 80 years old.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Glenn spent his early years in the city he loved. He graduated from West End High School before attending the University of Tennessee, where he studied business and earned his MBA in 1968. Glenn held several roles in the business world before reaching the pinnacle of his career in 1984, when he founded VIDEC, Inc., a company he built into a great success through hard work, vision, and an unshakable dedication to getting things right.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Granville and Nancy Boswell Koogler; his brother, William Boswell Koogler; and his sister, Beverly Koogler Libby. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Georgia; his daughter, Kathryn Koogler Lewis; and his grandsons, London and Wyatt Lewis, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Growing up, Glenn was a passionate sports fanatic, with baseball standing above all others as his lifelong favorite. In his younger years he was also an avid hunter, though over time his love for animals deepened and transformed. He often said, “The only way I can shoot an animal is with a camera,” and he lived by it—rescuing numerous dogs and cats and forming a unique bond with the deer and wild turkeys that regularly visited his home on Cheatham Lake.
Gifted with both curiosity and talent, Glenn was a true jack of all trades and a master of most. Friends and family alike turned to him for help with everything—from solving computer problems to buying a car to tackling carpentry and building projects. Those who knew him well also knew that Glenn did not suffer fools gladly nor silently; his candor was legendary, and his humor sharp, but his heart was always steady and loyal.
Per his wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Dickson County, 311 Tennsco Rd., Dickson, TN 37055, or online at the organization's website.
