Glenn Lea Obituary

Janesville, WI - Glenn H. Lea, age 91, passed away at home on Sunday, September 15, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 8, 1933, to Oscar and Marie (Swenby) Lea in Madison, WI. He married Jane Cox on October 8, 1955, she passed away in 1970. He then married Elnore Millin on August 12, 1972.

Glenn moved to Janesville in 1955 to work at General Motors and while there he was elected as a Union Rep for Local 95. He left that position in 1965 and was an instrumental part in organizing Blackhawk Community Credit Union. He served as President of the credit union until his retirement in 1996. Glenn was very passionate about credit unions and served on many organizations to promote the credit union industry.

He served as Director of State Central Credit Union, the Wisconsin Credit Union League Board of Directors and as a National Director of CUNA. He was also President of General Motors Council of Credit Unions, was a member of the Credit Union Executive Society and World Council of Credit Unions.

In 2022, Glenn was honored by the Rock County Historical Society for helping to build the economic foundation of Janesville & Rock County. He was very proud of this award.

Glenn was an avid Packer, Brewer & Badger fan, enjoyed traveling and was always up for a trip to the casino. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play hockey, baseball, tennis and softball for their various teams. He was always their biggest cheerleader and rarely missed a game.

He is survived by his wife Elnore, children: Marc (Nancy), James (Amy) and Ann Welsh; grandchildren: Jenni (Phil), Marcus, Amanda, Taylor, Bret (Sarah), Sydney (Tyler) and Nolan, 7 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Patricia Lea, many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters Catherine & Susan, son Steven, son-in-law Mike Cruise, sister Minerva, brothers: Tester, Marvin, Stanley, Donald & Lloyd and nephew, Robert Moen.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, September 20, 2024 at All Faiths Funeral Home in Janesville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services, on Friday at the funeral home. All Faiths Funeral and Cremation Services of Janesville is assisting the family. Blackhawk Community Credit Union can thank Glenn and Pat for building such a great organization. Let's hope that don't change. I will miss Glenn. It was a job well done.
