Glenn Edward "Sonny" Shearburn

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glenn Edward "Sonny" Shearburn, who left us peacefully on March 2, 2025. Born January 17, 1938 to Elizabeth and John Shearburn, Sonny was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Sonny married the love of his life Donna Lee Brown, on March 9, 1957, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his four children, Randy (Kelly) Shearburn, Sheryl Martinez-Sanchez, Lori (Jon) Jacobs, and Mindy (Todd) Smith, as well as ten grandchildren, Stefanie (Brian) Ortman, Makayla (Ryan) Fawcett, Brittani (Kenny Halloway) Jacobs, LeAnn Shearburn, Meggan (Joey Dugger) Jacobs, Bethany (John Perkins) Jacobs, Zack (Brooke) Smith, Kristen (Brett) Rumple, William (Autumn) Martinez, and Breana Wattigny and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Dennison.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Derek Shearburn; a son-in-law, Luis Martinez; sisters, Betty Hilbert, Doris Baker, Helen Shearburn, and Vera Baker; and a brother, Don Shearburn.
Sonny had a variety of jobs including a baker, a farm hand, construction, and drove a semi for Mike Whalen and Whalen Trucking for many years. Sonny was known for his passion for working on various projects in his garage, enjoying live music, attending pageants, and taking great delight in spending time with friends and family wherever they were gathering.
Sonny shared many special moments with his dear friend, Bernice Stewart, and was a vibrant member of the Waverly Senior Center, where he devoted his time to delivering and serving meals each week. His kindness and dedication to this community will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Waverly Senior Center and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 E.
