Glenn Edward Summers Sr.

After a long, hard battle with cancer, it was time to rest. Glenn Edward Summers Sr., age 63, of rural Glidden, IA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at St. Anthony Regional Medical Center on March 16, 2025.
Glenn was born on November 15, 1961, in Fort Dodge, IA, to Cecil and Monica (Bemrich) Summers. He spent his early years in Manson before moving to Garden City, Kansas, where he lived until the age of 16 before returning to Fort Dodge. Glenn later attended Iowa Central Community College, earning his welding certificate.
Throughout his life, Glenn worked in farming and construction but spent more than 20 years as a welder for New Way Trucks in Scranton, IA.
While still a teenager, Glenn met the love of his life, Brenda Kay McChesney, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Theirs was the kind of love that people search for-a once-in-a-lifetime bond. They were truly each other's perfect match, soulmates in every sense. They married on October 2, 1981, and spent more than four decades by each other's side, raising their three sons-Glenn Jr., Steven, and Cody-and building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Glenn had a deep love for the outdoors and spent his free time fishing, riding motorcycles, and camping with his family. He was a passionate football fan, with his greatest loyalty belonging to the Kansas City Chiefs. He not only loved watching games but also enjoyed attending them whenever he could. He also cheered on the Iowa Hawkeyes, watched the Chicago Cubs, and relaxed with a classic John Wayne movie.
Above all, Glenn cherished his family. His sons and grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he was fiercely protective of those he loved. He will be fondly remembered for his toughness, his fearless nature, and, most of all, his unmistakable and infectious laugh-a sound his family will hold in their hearts forever.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Summers of Glidden, IA; his sons, Glenn Summers Jr., Steven (Sara) Summers, and Cody Summers; and his beloved grandchildren, Logan, Abbigail, Emma, Jasmine, and Bella Summers, mother Monica Summers of Carroll, IA. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeanette Green of Lake View, IA, Jolene (Kevin) Arndt of Jewell, IA, Patty Hepp of Carroll, IA, and Rick Summers of Schleswig, IA.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Summers, and his brother, Steven Summers.
Glenn's legacy of love, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. The love he and Brenda shared was rare and extraordinary-a love story that will continue beyond this lifetime.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the Lake City Union Church with a visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m., at the Lake City Union Church. Glenn is survived by his wife Brenda Summers, and Sons: Glenn Summers Jr., Steven (Sara) Summers, and Cody Summers.
