Gloria R. Benedict

Gloria Rose (Borin) Benedict, age 91, passed away peacefully in Dover on Saturday December 10, 2022,
with her loving family at her side.

Born in Union City, New Jersey on December 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George and late Elvira (Gladio) Borin. Gloria was married to the late Joseph T. Benedict for 53 years until his passing in 2003.

After retiring from a career in retail, Gloria volunteered at several local hospitals and always maintained a full social calendar. She was known for her Italian cooking, particularly her meatballs and sauce. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Dover, The Red Hat Society and the Dover Senior Citizens Center.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her loving daughter-in-law, Judy Benedict, sister-in-law, Peg Benedict, brothers-in-law: George Lang and Tom Benedict, nephew, George Lang, and niece, Cathy Benedict.

Gloria is survived by her 5 children: Debi and Tom Cummiskey, Joe and Cindy Benedict, Terri and Warren Behrens, Steve Benedict, and Maribeth and Mark Drury, 12 adoring grandchildren, and 16 (soon to be 17) amazing great grandchildren who were her whole world. She is also survived by her brother-in-law James Benedict and sister-in-law Theresa Lang, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours are on Wednesday, December 14th from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Par-Troy Funeral Home, 95 Parsippany Road, Parsippany, NJ 07054. Her Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15th at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 90 Church Street, Rockaway, NJ 07866. Following Mass, Gloria will then be taken to her final resting place at the Garden of Memories, 300 Soldier Hill Road, Township of Washington, NJ 07676.
