Gloria was a happy homemaker, a wonderful/creative cook, and a true southern belle. Her genteel ways added to the ambiance of her home. She had a love for decorating, preparing delicious meals, hot cups of coffee or tea, or a chat on the front porch enjoying the beautiful sunshine. She always talked about how great God's beautiful trees, and colorful flowers were. Everything she did was with love and laughter.

In her early life, Gloria was a business student at Hinds Community College and graduated with an associate degree. At the ripe age of 20, she was introduced to the love of her life, our dad, James Francis Broadwater (Beau). It was always so great to hear her tell stories of how they met. She would have such a sweet tone in her voice and her eyes would light up talking about him. They were blessed to have 41 years together. After his death, she became a Steel Magnolia. A transition I never considered, but loss makes one stronger.

Mother had many names. Her uncle wanted to name her Morning Glory thus Gloria. Her other names and grandmother names were Gloria, Glo, Babe, Glory, Mother, Mom, Mama, Grand, Nana, Gigi, G, and all were said to her with love.

She was a charter member of the Creative Collectors Club and the Heritage Club of Jackson. She also loved to play bridge with her dear friends. They would rotate homes making beautiful meals and tablescapes to play bridge. They loved and supported each other for many years. Her love of antiques came from these great group of ladies.

Her family will always remember calling her daily and hearing her happy and strong voice saying, “Hello Darling!”. The funny thing is, she always sounded so young. ‘Hello Darling’ was such a lovely sound and one we will certainly miss.

Gloria was strong in her faith and her belief in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. She always spoke about being ready whenever God called her home.

So now we will cherish our precious memories and remember that beautiful smile, of the blue-eyed girl with ‘Stars in Her Eyes'.

We would like to thank the wonderful Doctors, Nurses, and PCA's at Baptist Health Systems Jackson.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Dana Broadwater Walker; son, Davis Broadwater, (Heather); Grandchildren: Morgan Broadwater Boyd, (Bo); Savannah James Broadwater Walker; Mitchell Evan Broadwater; Michael Scott Broadwater. Great grandson: John Greyson Boyd.

She was preceded in death by: Frances McKee (baby sister); Boyce McKee (father); James Frances Broadwater (husband); Alma McKee (mother); Janice McKee Wallace (sister); Judith Anne McKee (sister); and Fred C. McKee (brother).

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to: University of Mississippi Medical Center, Attn: Batson Children’s Hospital, Office of Development, 2500 North State Street Jackson MS 39216.
