Gloria Cecere, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024 while surrounded by her family. Born on May 12, 1932, in White Plains, NY, she was the daughter of Albert and Ida (nee Castellani) Rubini and later raised with help by her stepmother, Lena Rubini.
On September 16, 1950, Gloria married her treasured husband, John V. Cecere, who predeceased her on October 18, 2011. Together, they raised and nurtured a loving family at their home in White Plains before spending their later years together in Trumbull, CT.
Gloria, the cherished matriarch, is survived by three devoted children: Carolynn Toigo of Shelton, CT; John (Maura) Cecere of Fountain Hills, AZ; and Albert (Phyllis) Cecere of Mahopac, NY and predeceased by her son, Michael Cecere. Gloria also leaves behind her beloved sister, Josephine Zuzolo, as well as eight grandchildren: Melissa (Tom) Hanas, Lauren (Matt) Palmieri, Stefanie Toigo, Jennifer (James) Schiavone, Susan Stall, Joseph Cecere, Christian Cecere, and Michael John Cecere. In addition, she is survived by eight great-grandchildren: Ella, Nick, Owen, Michaela, Raelyn, James, Gabriel, and Coleson.
Gloria had an extraordinary love for flowers, roosters, the color red, and the New York Yankees. She had an eye for creativity and a passion for decorating, turning every room of her home into a charming space to share with her family. She will be remembered for her strength, love, quick-witted humor and clever remarks that brought joy and laughter to any situation. Gloria will be deeply missed and held in our hearts forever.
