Mrs. Gloria Cooper, age 73, a resident of Morton, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be 2:00pm Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Sims Hill Cemetery, Jimmy Harrison will officiate the service. Arrangements were entrusted with Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Scott County on August 4, 1941 to Taylor Earl Stokley and Laquita Jo Westberry Stokley, Gloria graduated from Morton High School and married her high school sweetheart, Billy Joe Cooper, for 47 precious years until his passing in 2017. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Some of her best times was spent with husband Billy Joe riding horses and in the wagon on trail rides. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who she cherished so much. She loved being outside working in her flower beds and feeding her birds and listening to the wind chimes. She also loved anyone who would just come sit and spend time with her.
Gloria was the owner and operator of Little Rascals Daycare for 18 years, where she raised several generations of children. She was such a joy to be around, never meet a stranger. She will greatly missed by all that loved and knew her.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Cooper; parents, Taylor Earl Stokley and Laquita Jo Westberry Stokley, brother, Kenny Stokley. and nephew, Chris Stokley She is survived by two children, Leslie Wooten, (Dan), LaQuita Pettigrew, (Johnny); grandchildren, Graycee Wooten, Taylor Trest, and Kylee Trest, brothers, Burnham Stokley, (Debbie), and Roger Stokley, (Shelia), all of Morton.
