Charlton: Gloria S. (Anderson) Curboy, 89, of Piehl Dr., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21st, in UMass Memorial Hospital Harrington, Southbridge, after a brief illness.
Her husband, Nathaniel G. Curboy, passed away in 2004. She leaves her four children, David K. Curboy and his wife Kim of Southbridge, Mary Lou Ryder of Charlton, Dennis E. Curboy and his wife Mary of Southbridge; and Patricia M. Curboy and her husband Brian Dreyer of Brimfield; her sister, Susan Chaplin of Southbridge; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Earl C. Anderson, Jr. and her sister, Carolyn Morse. Gloria was born in Southbridge the daughter of Earl and Stella (White) Anderson.
Gloria worked in the cafeteria of the Charlton Elementary School in Charlton for many years, retiring many years ago. She previously worked at the McClellan's Department Store in Southbridge and the American Optical Co. in Southbridge prior to that. She was a longtime devoted member of the Elm Street Congregational Church in Southbridge. She served on the church's Refreshment Committee and helped with the Southbridge Rotary Club luncheons served in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Gloria was a former member of the Charlton PTA, the Southbridge Mother's Club and was a former Brownie Leader. Gloria enjoyed reading and traveling with her husband. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Gloria will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 26th, at 10:00am in the Elm Street Congregational Church, 61 Elm St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in West Ridge Cemetery, Charlton. Calling hours in the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, will be held on Monday, Nov. 25th, from 5:00 to 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elm Street Congregational Church, PO Box 723, Southbridge, MA, United States, 01550.
