Gloria Ernest (Miner) 89 of Chapel Hill NC passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. A private memorial service was held in her honor.
Born on June 7, 1935, in St Paul Minnesota, Gloria was raised by her hard-working mother alongside her older sisters Shirley and Marilyn. Forming a close-knit family, all three sisters became successful adults, including Gloria who graduated with a four-year degree in Economics and went on to raise her own family, eventually settling in Basking Ridge, New Jersey with her second loving husband Bill Ernest and her three sons.
Gloria never met a hobby she didn't want to try. Anything from collecting butterflies with her kids to making crafts, car maintenance to furniture refinishing. She was also all-in on hosting the parade of family pets her sons brought home, sometimes right out of the woods. An avid fan of auctions and rummage sales, she also collected wide ranging items of her interest including rare books and glassware. She lived a pleasant happy life generously sharing in the everyday ups and downs of her family.
In retirement Gloria moved to Chapel Hill NC with Bill. They soon began visiting Oak Island NC where the couple was able to own and renovate a small beach cottage. Both fell in love with beach life, spending half of every week in all seasons at the coast. By unlikely circumstances both fell in love with ocean fishing and even followed that interest out on the open water in their own modest powerboat, teaching each other and exploring along the way.
Gloria is lovingly remembered by her sons, David Greenstreet, Dean Greenstreet and Glen (Michelle Hooth) Greenstreet, and grandkids Ryan Greenstreet & Emma Greenstreet.
Preceded by her husband Bill Ernest, parents Eugene Miner, Ester Cassel and stepmother Bea Miner. Also preceded by her sisters Shirley Miner and Marilyn Jensen.
