Gloria Griffin, age 75, passed away peacefully on September 12 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina. She was born in Bladen County on June 10, 1947, to the late Wilton Guyton and Violet Marie Guyton. She is survived by her daughter Heather Leser (Eric) of Raleigh, two brothers Randy Guyton (Connie) of Garland, and Mark Guyton (Elaine) of Elizabethtown, one sister Dixie Harris (Randy), and three grandchildren Jacobson Leser, Savannah Leser, and Greyson Leser.Devout in her Christian faith, Gloria found ways to make days and lives better through kindness and compassion. She worked at the Southeastern Regional Medical Center for most of her career and was an active member of Singletary United Methodist Church in her hometown. Gloria loved baking sweets, from cakes to cookies, for any occasion. She greatly enjoyed the view from her swing in the sunroom, where she could watch the many birds visiting her lovingly tended garden. Gloria passed her passion for baking and gardening down to her daughter, Heather Leser. The apples of her eyes were her three grandchildren Jacobson, Savannah, and Greyson. Gloria will be remembered for her kindness, her compassion, her faithful card writing and her deep relationship with Christ. We will miss her greatly. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Saturday, September 17th at the Singletary Church Fellowship Building in Dublin. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm in the Singletary Church Sanctuary with Reverend Al Marshburn officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Duke Homecare & Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Dr. Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704 (919-620-3853.
