It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Robert Marion Heavenridge, who departed this life on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 68. He was born on October 18, 1957, in Freeport, Texas, and throughout his life touched the hearts of many with kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
Robert is survived by his wife, Angela Meggs Heavenridge; sister, Denelle Ann Polansky; cousins: William Edge, Shirley Ree Townsend and Ronald Edge, and his aunt, Sue Edge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert James Heavenridge and Nellie Edge Heavenridge and brother-in-Law, David A. Polansky.
Robert dedicated nearly 35 years of his life to the betterment of public education, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives in the communities he served.
During his distinguished career, Robert held numerous pivotal positions that showcased his commitment to nurturing and guiding the next generation. His roles included Director of Transportation and Maintenance, where he ensured the safe and reliable transportation of students, as well as serving as an Instructional Coach and Interventionist, providing critical support to educators and students alike. He also fulfilled the vital role of Bladen County Support Service Coordinator, and as Bladen County Assistant Principal, he was instrumental in fostering a positive learning environment. Earlier in his career, he shaped young minds as a teacher in Robeson County.
Known for his qualities, such as sense of compassion, work ethic, and devotion to Christ. Robert devoted his life to public education, Bladenboro Rotary Club, and in earlier years to the Angleton Area Emergency Corp. He will be remembered for service to Bladen County Schools, creating a small rental business with his wife, and traveling some with his precious wife.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. A service to honor and celebrate Robert Marion Heavenridge's life at Regan Methodist Church, 5630 Regan Church Road, Lumberton, NC 28358, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and share in remembrance.
Many thanks go out to Sharon Guy, Wanda Daniels, and Jacob Armstrong for supporting his wife and little sister during this sorrowful time. A special "Thank you" to William Edge for everything you have done for helping Angela and Denelle Ann.
Flowers and plants are welcome, charitable donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Robert Marion Heavenridge.
Robert Marion Heavenridge will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
