Gloria May Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evans Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services - Parkville on Mar. 12, 2026.
Gloria H. May, 94, of White Marsh, MD, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026.

Gloria was the devoted wife of the late Harry H. May, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. She was the loving mother of David May Sr. and his wife Wanda, Chris May, Gloria Brennskag and her husband Bernie, Brenda May and her wife Beth, and the late Robert May and his wife Robin.

She was the cherished "Mommom" of David Jr., Daniel, Deborah, Robby Jr., Heather, Derek, James, Rachael, Matthew, Nathan, and the late Becky Sue. Gloria was also a proud and loving great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren. She was a devoted sister to Lysbeth and Anne and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Gloria will be remembered for her deep faith, as well as her assertive-yet loving- "bossy" nature. Family members often smiled when she would settle a matter with her familiar phrase, "Because I said so," a saying that perfectly reflected her caring but determined spirit. She was outgoing and loved any occasion that allowed her to gather with others and be social.

She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends while dining at some of her favorite restaurants, including Bowley's on the Bay and The Orient, and attending Crab Feast down by the river. She never missed a special occasion and faithfully sent cards for every birthday.

Gloria was also an avid duckpin bowler and enjoyed many years bowling at Middlesex Fair Lanes. During quieter moments, she loved cross-stitch and needlepoint and found joy watching blue jays and other birds gather at her bird feeder. She also had a special love for dogs and always enjoyed the companionship and happiness they brought into her life.

Gloria had a great love of music, especially big band favorites, Elvis Presley, and Frank Sinatra. She cherished her collection of hymns, particularly Amazing Grace and What a Friend We Have in Jesus. Other favorite songs included Moonlight Serenade and Stardust, which was her wedding song.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Gloria's life at the family-owned Evans Life Celebration Home, 8800 Harford Road, Parkville, Maryland 21234, on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gloria's name to: Seaside Bird Sanctuary 19328 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores, FL 33785 and/or
