Gloria Jean McCoy, age 68, of Cherokee, IA, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at her home in Cherokee, IA, surrounded by her family. A visitation and time of celebration of Glorias life will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA. Burial will take place at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, at Oak Hill Cemetery, prior to the service with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. The Greenwood-Schubert Funeral Home in Cherokee, IA, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwoodfuneral.com.
Gloria Jean McCoy, daughter of Harry Scott and Marthena (Johnson) Scott was born on October 2, 1955, in Cherokee, IA. She lived in Meriden, IA where she attended Meriden-Cleghorn schools, graduating in 1973.
Gloria was united in marriage to John McCoy in November of 1987. They welcomed their son to this union, Mason McCoy. John passed away in 1988. Gloria met Mike Roe in 2006 and they have shared many special years together.
Glorias career included working at Zenith in Sioux City for about a year and then Carriage Hills for four years. She eventually went to work for MHI in Cherokee, IA where she worked for over 40 years. She retired in March of 2015. Gloria was a member of Quimby Golf Club. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family. She was well known for her peanut brittle.
On May 26, 2024, Glora passed away peacefully at her home in Cherokee, IA. She was preceded by her parents, Harry and Marthena Scott and husband, John McCoy.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Mason (Kelly) McCoy of Cherokee, IA; brother, Dave (Meredith) Scott of Meriden, IA, sister, Dorothy (Albert) Schulz of Seney, IA, twin sister, Glenda Ames of LeMars, IA, 3 nieces, 4 nephews, 2 step-nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and significant other, Mike Roe.
