Gloria Jean Parker Nelms, age 79, of Apopka, Florida, passed away at Advent Health Hospital in Altamonte Springs. She was born in Waynesville, NC and was the daughter of the late Charles Curtis Parker and Ruth Ann Young Parker. Gloria attended Canton High School and later moved to Orange Park, Florida in 1986 and later relocated to Apopka in 2018.
Gloria had a kind and generous spirit. She found joy in sewing, gardening, and volunteering at her grandchildren's schools, where her warmth and care left a lasting impression.
She u=is survived by her loving children, Brian Nelms (Brandy) of Newnan, GA, Kevin Nelms (Matthew) of Apopka, FL, Tommy Parker (Michelle) of Canton, NC, Dawn Brugh (Michael) of Orange Park, FL and Deidre Simmons of Orange Park, FL; a devoted grandmother to Whitney, Amanda, Alisa, Shane, Autumn, Madison, Caitlin, Allyson, Shaelyn, Sydney, Emma, and Julia; her sister, Sheila Parker Mathis (Darrell) of Waynesville, NC and her brother, Roger Parker (Karen) of Clyde, NC.
Gloria was deeply loved and expressed that love in her own meaningful way. Her legacy lives in the hearts of her family and friends, and the memories she created will be cherished always.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 24, 2025 in Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will follow at the home of Brandy Ball, 76 Riley Ride, Waynesville, NC 28785.
