Gloria Ann Perhai Chappell

Mrs. Gloria Ann Perhai Chappell, a resident of Talladega, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at her home. A funeral service in her honor will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the First Methodist Church of Talladega, officiated by Todd Henderson. Following the service, interment will take place at Pine Hill Memorial Park. The family invites friends for a visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church prior to the service.
Born in Superior, Wisconsin, Gloria was a proud graduate of the Wisconsin School for the Deaf and attended Gallaudet University, where she met her beloved husband, Charlie Chappell. After their marriage, they relocated to Talladega in 1954. Gloria dedicated 35 years of her life working at the Alabama School for the Deaf before retiring. She was a devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Talladega.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Chappell, and her grandson, James Ross Harry.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Taylor and Rosemary Chappell; her son, Randy Chappell (Sheila); grandchildren, Summer, Andrew, Zoe, BJ "Will", Krystal, Abbie, and Ryan.; eight great-grandchildren; her special friend, Cynthia Shaw; and her faithful friend, Martha Olvera.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Chappell, BJ "Will" Chappell, Ryan Chappell, George Waldrup, Charles Chappell, and Susan Wilson.
Flowers are welcome, and those wishing to honor her memory may make donations to the AIDB Agriculture Center, P.O. Box 698, Talladega, AL 35161.
