Gloria Jean Samuel

Gloria Jean Samuel, 79, of Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on December 15, 2025. She was born on April 6, 1946, in Orangeburg, SC, to the late Hoyt and Carrie Miller. Gloria retired from the state of Connecticut.
She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Bloomfield, CT, since 1965 serving on the Senior Usher Board, as supervisor for the Junior Usher Board, advisor for Mary Greer Usher Board, Pastor's Aide, and Stewardess Board.
She was also a member of IOTA Pelatis Auxiliary Beta Chapter of Hartford, CT, the Elks Lodge Hartford, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 142 Hartford, where she was a lifetime member and served as treasurer for 12 yrs.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 39 years (on December 25th), Walter Samuel Sr.; daughters, Valerie Robinson and Monique Milling; sons, Elbert Robinson (Sharon), Stacy Robinson (Theresa), and Walter Samuel Jr.; grandchildren, Brittany Robinson, Shahara French, Jalen French, Terrell Montgomery, Phoenix Crowe, Jade Robinson, and Tamia Robinson; two great grandchildren, Tariji Robinson and Leiah Montgomery; sisters, Hermeine Thompson, Helen Shuler (Tonzel), Gloria Wilson (David); godchildren, Ann Jackson, Sidney Jones, and Arryl Edwards; sister- and brother-in-law, Leon Samuel (Mary) and Louise Woods, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Charles "Chucke" French; Brother-in-law Silas Thompson; sisters-in-laws, Melvin Edwards and Velma Birt.
