Gloria Schmidt

Gloria Rose (Friedrichsen) Schmidt died on December 29, 2025, in East Wenatchee, WA. She was born on October 1, 1933, in Watertown, SD, as the daughter of William H Friedrichsen and Edna David Friedrichsen. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Martin's Lutheran Church of Watertown, SD. After graduating from Watertown High School in 1951, she went to Nettleton Business School of Sioux Falls, SD, graduating there in 1952.

Moving to Walla Walla, WA, she thereafter worked for the Corps of Engineers, Waal Walla District. Her marriage to Delbert G Schmidt was on May 28, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walla Walla, WA. They moved to Yakima, WA, and subsequently to Seattle/Renton, WA, where they both worked for the Boeing Company for several years. Another move to Kennewick, WA, lasted for over 30 years, where her last employment was with Battelle Northwest Laboratories. Upon retiring to Leavenworth, WA, they opened their home as Das Wiesenhaus Bed and Breakfast for six years before retiring the second time.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Kevin G. and Kimberly A. Schmidt of Leavenworth, WA, Kerry D. and Lynda R. Schmidt of Colbert, WA, and Randall D. and Kathryn A. Schmidt of Montesano, WA; ten grandchildren; as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; husband; and one grandson.

A Memorial Service will be held for Gloria on January 17, 2026 at 2:00 pm with the Reverand Donald E. Ray officiating at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wenatchee.
