Gloria Jane Scott, a beacon of warmth and cherished memories, gracefully departed this world on December 6, 2024, at the age of 78, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on September 19, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan, Gloria lived a life rich with love, creativity, and the unmatched joy of family.
Throughout her varied career, Gloria held multiple positions, yet none stood as proud and fulfilling as her role as a devoted mother. She embodied the essence of nurturing. Her home was known as the place where everyone could come to laugh and be loved. Known to be the favorite aunt, she wove her spirit into the fabric of countless lives, imparting lessons, laughter, and unconditional love to her nieces and nephews.
Gloria’s artistic endeavors mirrored the vibrant individuality that she brought into the lives of others. Possessing a remarkable ability across various mediums, she found joy in sewing, drawing, painting, and creating ceramics. Her artistry was not merely a pastime—it transcended into a passion shared with many at local craft shows, where attendees celebrated not only her creations but the very spirit she infused into every stitch and brushstroke.
Education was paramount in Gloria's life, having pursued her Cosmetology license after high school, she continued to develop her talents in ways that would serve and uplift those around her. Her leadership as the leader for her daughters' Brownies and Girl Scouts Groups exemplified her urge to foster growth and knowledge within her community and, more importantly, her family.
Resilient and inviting, Gloria was a source of strength and commitment, fiercely battling challenges for the sake of her loved ones. Her ability to create a welcoming environment was second to none; she was, without question, a true matriarch, drawing everyone close into her loving embrace.
On October 1, 1965 Gloria married the love of her life, Timothy James Scott. Together, they built a beautiful family, which includes their loving children: Missi Peters and Heather Gruneisen. Gloria took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Amanda Absher, Cody (Chelsea) Peters, Ava Gruneisen, and Maggie Gruneisen. Along with her great grandchildren Zeppelin Absher, Hunter Day, Riley Peters and Noah Peters. Her devotion to them was evident in every aspect of her life.
She also leaves behind her dear sisters Mary (Henry T.) Bates, Joyce (Thomas) Medved, and Pearl (David) Medved. And remains dearly remembered by her best friend Sue Kurtz, Steve and Janette Hermes along with numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her legacy forward.
Though Gloria now joins the ranks of those who have gone before—her mother Mary Garton, her beloved husband Timothy James Scott, and siblings William (Alma) Garton, Jack (Ann) Garton, Carolyn (Gerald) Dixon, Nancy (Bill) Bates, Francis (Clifford) Gehrt, and Richard Garton—her spirit will forever illuminate the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
As a celebration of her life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts, family and friends are invited to honor her at the Mueller Funeral Home in Mason, Ohio. Visitation will begin on December 12, 2024, at 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. A graveside service will then take place at West Chester Cemetery on December 13, at 10:00 AM.
If desired, memorial donations may be directed to Salvation Army or Hospice of Cincinnati.
