Gloria Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hurst Scott Funeral Home on Feb. 7, 2026.
Gloria Jean Smith, age 83, of Belfast, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

She was the daughter of the late Bud Fink and Hazel Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Howard Smith, and her six siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her son Rocky, her daughter, Kelly, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Jean was a beautiful person who always put others first. Hers was a life of service. She was a loving mother and adoring wife while also working full time as an educator. She taught generations of local children and served as a guidance counselor. She was active in her church and was known for her generosity and quick wit.

Our time on this earth is short, and Jean's life reminds us of the importance of serving our community and fellow man. May your life be based on a foundation of Christian faith. We, the survivors, will remember Jean with gratitude and love for each other that will be her enduring legacy.

Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Legacy Hospice and Commonwealth Senior Living for their compassionate care and service.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local Food Pantry or Animal Shelter of choice.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
