Gloria Jean (Lutz) Van Why, 77, of Stroudsburg, died Sunday, March 5, 2023, while under hospice care in her daughter's home.
Born on February 27, 1946 in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late John Willard and Ruth A. (Snyder)
Gloria was a resident of Westgate Apartments where she served on the board of directors and was a caretaker for several of the residents.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stroudsburg and loved to go for walks and shopping, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family cookouts.
Surviving are four children, Lisa M. Drake (Christopher Vega) of Stroudsburg, Penny S. Kasperski (Joe) of Stroudsburg, Lee J. Vanwhy (Jennifer) of Florida, and Nancy J. Vanwhy (Sean Egley) of Stroudsburg; thirteen grandchildren, Joseph Christian, Charles Drake, Steven Vanwhy, Amanda Vanwhy, Jessica Vanwhy, Faith Vanwhy, Terri Lynn Pawlik, Nicole Vanwhy, Cortney Delicati, Samantha Santura, Madison Santura, Joseph Santura, Amelia Santura and Victoria Cummins; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Bentham (wife of the late Elwood) of Easton and Ruthanne Gromadin (wife of the late Victor) of Effort; two brothers, John Lutz (Florence) of Florida and Lee Lutz (Shirley) of Bangor; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Van Why; her lifelong soulmate, Joseph Davis; and a sister, Shirley Marth (wife of the late Frank).
Services will be held on Friday, March 10th, from the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with viewing beginning at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:30AM with Rev. Elizabeth Koerner officiating. Burial will follow at Marcy Cemetery in Duryea.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations for funeral costs.
