Wanda Starner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by William H. Clark Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 27, 2026.
Wanda J. Starner, 73, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 18, 2026, after being diagnosed late last summer with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She faced her illness with remarkable strength and grace.

Born on October 10, 1952, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, Wanda entered the world as the precious baby daughter of the late Gordon V. Starner and the late Blanche Metzgar Starner. She was one of five sisters-preceded in death by Carolyn and Marie, and survived by Linda and Jackie. Wanda graduated from Pocono Mountain High School in 1970 where she participated in the marching and concert bands and played on the basketball team.

Wanda dedicated nearly 30 years of service to the Pocono Mountain School District. She spent 19 years as a school bus driver, becoming a trusted and familiar presence for generations of students and families. She then transitioned into the transportation office for the remainder of her employment. She took great pride in her work and the relationships she built throughout her career.

An incredibly talented and award-winning quilter, Wanda continued the treasured tradition passed down from her mother. She created hundreds of quilts over the years, generously sharing them with family, friends, and charitable organizations. Many of her quilts were donated to fundraisers and causes she cared deeply about, reflecting both her artistry and her generous spirit.

Wanda was known for her selfless nature and unwavering concern for others. She always put family, friends, and her community first, offering kindness, compassion, and quiet strength to everyone around her. Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and devotion to others. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Timothy Beville; her beloved son, Marc Thornton, and his fiancée Monica; her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, Emma, Nisha, Carolina, and Nickolas Jr.; and many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg.
