Gloria Jean Wallace

Gloria Jean Wallace (née Newkirk), aged 85, passed away on October 18, 2025, in her lifelong hometown of Poughkeepsie, New York. Born on September 25, 1940, in Poughkeepsie, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and the late Mary Ada Litts Newkirk.
Gloria lived a full life marked by dedication to her community and family.
Gloria graduated from Poughkeepsie Schools and recently retired in June 2025 from her long-standing role as a Post SolderInspector at Marco Board House. Known for her joyous spirit and love for leisure, she enjoyed music, dancing, playing bingo, visiting casinos, and the thrill of playing scratch-off tickets.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Patricia Jessup of Lagrange, NY, Mary Poskitt of Bartow, Florida, Sharon and her husband Bruce Terrelonge of Wappingers, NY, and Stephanie Williams of Wappingers, NY.She was preceded in death by her son, John Wallace Jr.
Gloria was a cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm, with services following at 7 pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, located at 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
