Gloria Roseann Williams the Matriarch of our family fell ill to cancer in October and departed this life on Wednesday, November 13th,2024 at the age of 73.
Gloria Was born on April 10th, 1951, to the late Uriah and Doris Williams in Portland, Jamaica. Gloria attended school in Bybrook, Jamaica until the age of 10 where she then migrated to England to be with her parents. Gloria finished her schooling in England, then went on to work for a Broadcasting company. While in England Gloria became a mother to 3 Children, Ralston (Allan), Joanne, and Melonie. Several years later she migrated to the United States to provide a better life for her children.
Once she settled in the United States Gloria went to school and became a CNA to later on continue that path for the love of patients to become Registered Nurse. In her spare time, she also attended realtor school to then gain her realtor license.
After retiring from Nursing, she went with her passion for cooking and became the co-owner of the 1st and true "Tropical Delights" On Whalley Ave, New Haven, CT where people always stated, "It was the best Jamaican Restaurant New Haven ever had"!
All who loved Gloria knows she was affectionately known to as "Ma "no matter the relation to her or not. Ma loved to travel near and far but always made sure she looked her best, Our mother embodied elegance with flare. Womanhood with a capital "W" as well as being a fine lady. She was beautiful within and without. Ma always had her favorite styles which was a ponytail or a short haircut with the swoop in the front. She made sure to present herself with elegance and flair.
Ma's favorite advice to her children was "not because yuh poor yuh have to look poor"! "Always wear clean underwear because you don't know what can happen ah road"!
Her favorite quotes were "Yuh Luddy AKA You're Lucky", and Yuh Favah what shall I do!
Ma is survived by her 3 Children Ralston (Alan) Williams of London England, Joanne Williams (Richard Greenwood) of New Jersey, and Melonie (Terrence) Brookshire of New Haven, CT. Her 12 grandchildren, Duregh, Mandela, Naja, Josteva, Buloan, Nijae, AJ, Brian, Teriah, Alayshia, Nyashia, and Terran. 12 Great grandchildren, she is also survived by her only brother Carlton Williams of Portland Buffbay, Jamaica, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Gloria was predeceased by her 4 Sisters, and her brothers Herbie, and Melvin Williams.
