Glynda Marian Harrell Eschle was ushered into heaven Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at the age of 82 after a long battle with dementia. She lived at Belmont Senior Living in Lakeway, TX.
Glynda was born January 26,1941 in Panhandle TX, the second of three daughters of Glynn D and Sybil York Harrell. Glynda grew up and attended school in Groom where she graduated with the class of 1959. She was active in FHA and 4-H club as well as a majorette with the Tiger band.
After high school, Glynda graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She was also an All Campus Advisor and member of The Marketing Association. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Texas Tech in 1965. Glynda loved to sew, do needlework, and cook – especially desserts such as Golden Bubble Ring or chess pie!
Glynda married John Phillip Eschle on Jan 30, 1966. They lived in Groom where they raised their three children and actively participated in church and community activities. In Groom, Glynda began working for the United States Postal Service. Glynda and Johnny moved to Lubbock in 1989 where Glynda continued to work for the USPS. Glynda and Johnny divorced in January 1996.
After retiring, Glynda moved to Austin in 2005. She delighted in spending time with her children and grandchildren, volunteered at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and enjoyed Book Club in Circle C. She was also an active member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church. As a Life Member of Texas Ex-Students Association, Glynda often attended Longhorn events on or around campus. Even in the late stages of dementia, she could sing, "The Eyes of Texas!"
Survivors include her children, John Darron Eschle and his wife Brandi of Flower Mound, TX, Erin Kate Eschle Wolf and husband James of Austin, TX, and Jason Harrell Eschle of Roanoke, TX. Grandchildren, Madison Eschle Mackie and husband Alec, Bailey Eschle Pittman and husband Colton, Leighton Eschle, Julieth, Elysa, Camden and Keston Wolf and Nevin D and Austin Eschle. Great-grandchild, Anderson Pittman. Sisters, Louise Harrell Mulkey and Beverly Harrell Ingram and husband Jim. In-laws, Nan Clay, Jimmy Eschle and Laine Jennings. Father of their children, John Eschle.
Preceded in death by parents, Glynn D and Sybil York Harrell, in-laws, George and Elsie Riddle Eschle, and brother-in-law, Robert J Mulkey.
Glynda's family would like to thank the Oak Hill United Methodist Church, the staff at Belmont Senior Living as well as Silverado Hospice for the love and care given throughout her final months; we appreciate you!
Glynda chose JOY as her mantra. She would often say, "This is the ONLY dance," and lived life to the fullest!
Celebration of Life Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Groom United Methodist Church, Groom, TX. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery. Per Glynda's request, please wear bright colors to contribute to the celebration
