Antonia “Toni” Frausto Escamilla, 72, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1201 SE 11th Ave, Amarillo, Texas, with Christian burial to follow at Llano Cemetery. Toni was born on June 15, 1953, in Amarillo to Jose and Florencia Frausto. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1972. Toni was known for her contagious smile and laugh that could light up any room. A devoted Catholic, she lived her faith daily and made sure her children and grandchildren knew the importance of prayer, tradition, and the love of God.
In her younger years, Toni taught at the Wesley Community Center, where she dedicated herself to teaching neighborhood children and preparing them for bright futures. Her former students, now grown, never forgot her kindness and often embraced her warmly when they saw her, sharing memories of the impact she had on their lives.
She married the love of her life, Alfred Escamilla, and together they shared 48 wonderful years, showing all who knew them the true meaning of love and marriage. Family was the center of Toni’s world. She was an amazing mother, sister, aunt, and friend but her greatest joy was being a grandmother. She would move heaven and earth to ensure her grandchildren felt her love. Generous and compassionate, Toni touched countless lives, not only those of her family and friends, but also strangers who were fortunate enough to cross her path. Children held a special place in her heart, and she made certain no child ever went without.
Anyone who knew Toni and her husband Alfred could often find them making their daily stop at Tacos Garcia on Ross, where they were always greeted with love by family.
Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Florencia Frausto; her sisters Amelia Preciado, Margie Silva, Elena Frausto, Josephine Campos, and Lupita Frausto; her brothers Tino Frausto and Mike Frausto; and her granddaughter DeAnn Campos.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Escamilla Jr.; her daughters Cynthia Gauna Escamilla, Lisa Diaz (Jacob), and Michelle Escamilla; her one and only baby boy Alfred Joseph Escamilla; and her special granddaughter, whom she raised and loved as her own, Regina Lopez Trevino; siblings, Raymond Frausto, Benny Frausto, Ricky Frausto, Julia Frausto. She is also survived by her grandchildren Katera Padilla, Allie Goff, Hope Montoya, Victoria Escamilla, Zayla Montoya, Kailey Ledbetter, Tommy Jacob Gauna, Vanessa Gauna, Isaac Escamilla, and Aliyah Escamilla; 11 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; as well as two special men she loved like sons, Anthony Escamilla and Tommy Gauna.
Toni’s life was a testament to love, faith, and generosity. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by the family and friends whose lives she brightened.
