Goldie Charlene Cathey was born December 28, 1936, in Ryan, Oklahoma to Charlie and Tinny (Maness) Dalton. She passed away surrounded by her family at her home in Duncan, Oklahoma on Sunday, August 17, 2025. She was 88 years old.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 22, at Whitt Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Morgan officiating. Family and friends will serve as her pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Ryan Cemetery.
Goldie married James Cathey on July 24, 1964 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Together they raised a family and shared a wonderful life for 58 years before James' passing in 2022. She was a loving caregiver to James. During her working career, Goldie worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Rodney Nelson until his retirement and as a florist. She enjoyed sewing and made pioneer clothes for Land Run Days for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Tinney Dalton; husband of 58 years, James; stepson, James Harold Cathey; daughter, Vickie Berryhill; sisters: Genevea Ritter, Cleta Smith; brothers: Charles Dalton, Jerry Dalton; and son-in-law, Donald Sanford.
Goldie is survived by her children: Johnny Daniel and wife Tletta Cathey; Donna Carol Cathey and Jerry Gordon, Sheila Dianna Sanford and fiancé William John Trotter; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Bobbie McDonald, Margie Wise.
Pallbearers are Chuck Dalton, Brian Dalton, Kavin Heugatter, Ty Simmons, Brent Bailey, and Cody Ward.
