Goldie McClanahan Mitchell

GOLDIE (MCCLANAHAN) MITCHELL, 96, of Doran, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at her home following a brief illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Dock and Flora Ethel McClanahan. She was a longtime resident of Buchanan Conty prior to moving to Doran, and was a member of Freedom Ministries Church at Cedar Bluff, VA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker who loved cooking and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ellis Boyd; her second husband, Joseph Mitchell; Son: Lester Boyd; Sisters: Lucy Sutherland and Helen Boyd; Brothers: Robert Jessie McClanahan, Charlie McClanahan, James McClanahan and Jerry Lee McClanahan.
Those left to cherish her memory include Daughters: Eura Dixon of Bryan, OH, Nancy Boyd of Rural Retreat, VA; Sons: Jack Boyd of Ney, OH, Michael Boyd of Bryan, OH, Ellis Boyd of Bryan, OH; Step-Sons: Von Mitchell and Greg Mitchell; Sisters: Barbara Coleman, Ada Deel and Jenny Clevinger.
Also, survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Monday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for GOLDIE (MCCLANAHAN) MITCHELL will be conducted Monday, October 20, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Mickey Hale officiating with burial to follow in the McClanahan Family Cemetery on Camp Branch Rd.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
