Gonzalo Prieto "Larry" Mendolla

Gonzalo Prieto Mendolla, lovingly known as Larry or "Grandpa Larry," passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Fallon, Nevada, at the age of 89. He was born on March 20, 1936, in Anson, Texas, to Francisco and Rosa Mendolla, who preceded him in death.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona Mendolla, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He is also survived by his children Lisa (John) and Larry (Margaret); his grandchildren Aaron, Sarah, Zack, and Jacob; and his great-grandchildren Nathaniel and Sadie. Larry is survived by his siblings Lila, Ruth, Esther, Becky, and Adam, as well as by many nieces and nephews, and his other loved ones Hadi and Stacie. He was preceded in death by his siblings Victor, Shawna, Martin, Jose, Margie, and Daniel.

His greatest joy was his family, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion carried on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Larry was deeply rooted in his community and lived a life of service. He was an active member of the Hollister, CA Exchange Club and the Hollister, CA Elks Club, and he proudly served as a volunteer fireman. Known for his strong work ethic, Larry always ensured his family was cared for while extending kindness, encouragement, and support to friends and neighbors.

Beyond service, Larry enjoyed life's simple and joyful pleasures. He loved fishing, cheering for the Giants, Raiders, and 49ers, traveling, and watching wrestling. Vacations with family were some of his happiest times. Later in life, he enjoyed the peace of working on puzzles. Through all of his passions, Larry's loyalty, generosity, and love for others were clear.

Among his proudest accomplishments was supporting his children and grandchildren in their education, careers, and families. He provided a foundation of love and encouragement that allowed them to succeed and thrive. His values of loyalty, perseverance, humor, and compassion will continue to inspire those who loved him.

Larry will be remembered for his sense of humor, his storytelling, and his easygoing nature. He was a good listener, someone who made others feel welcome and valued, and a steady presence who brought comfort and laughter to those around him. He rarely let challenges weigh him down, and he lived each day with generosity and heart.

A funeral service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, 435 Stoker Ave, Reno, NV 89503.

Larry's life was a true testament to love, service, and devotion. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and friends who were blessed to know him.
