Chrysanthy Holbrook Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
Reno - It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected loss of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Chrysanthy Victoria Holbrook, lovingly known to all as "Vicky," who went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 12, 2025. Born on February 17, 1950, in Yokohama, Japan, to Matt and Helena Chotas, her family then made their way to Reno, Nevada, a place where she built a life rooted in faith, laughter, and love.

In 1970, Vicky married the love of her life, Bill Holbrook. Together they shared 55 beautiful years of marriage, a partnership marked by devotion, joy, and countless cherished memories. Their marriage was a true example of enduring love and unwavering commitment, one that inspired everyone who knew them.

Family was everything and she never missed a game, performance, or milestone, always cheering proudly for her daughter and grandchildren. She gifted her family with a life full of love, guidance, and adventure, while reminding them daily what unconditional love looks like. Family game nights were legendary, filled with laughter, playful competition, and Vicky's clever antics like her infamous claim of being "afraid of manatees" just to earn an extra point. These moments of humor and joy became woven into the fabric of family traditions and will be cherished for generations.

She is survived by her beloved husband Bill, her daughter Shelby and son-in-law Thomas, and her treasured grandchildren Matt (Alexis), Zach, and Makena, who were the joys of her life. She is also remembered with love by her two great-grand dogs, Buddy and Luka.

Vicky delighted in caring for the birds who flocked to her yard and found beauty in every sunset and rainbow. Whether it was enjoying a meal at Grateful Gardens, staying active at the gym, whipping up photo-worthy vegan recipes, or sharing her insights on health and politics, Vicky brought passion to everything she did. Her faith in God guided her life, and she leaves behind an incredible legacy.

Though her presence will be deeply missed, Vicky's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved her. She will live on in the laughter of her family, in the songs of the birds she cherished, and in the sunsets that paint the Nevada sky. Whenever you see a hummingbird, feel the warmth of a shared smile, or experience a small, unexpected blessing, let it be a reminder of Vicky's enduring spirit watching over you.

The family held a private service and a celebration of Vicky's beautiful life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Nevada Humane Society.
