Vicky Ann Auton, a beacon of loving kindness and intelligence, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, in Chesterfield, MO. Born on June 10, 1940, in Colorado, Vicky's life was marked by her dedication to helping others, as evidenced by her distinguished 25-year career as a speech pathologist with the Special School District.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow with Rev. Lynn Parkhurst officiating. Burial will follow at the Marlow Cemetery, all arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Gordon and Vicky's legacy is carried on by their devoted children: sons Jeffrey Auton with his wife Mary Lou, Gregory Auton with his wife Sue Pettit, and daughter Tammy Pedigo with her husband Randy. They were also cherished by their ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who will miss their guidance and warmth. Gordon's sister, Ann Elizabeth Hewitt Auton, also survives him. Vicky leaves behind her beloved sister Vanna Kay and brother-in-law Dale Hume, continuing the close-knit family ties they always treasured.
Gordon was preceded in death by his loving parents, Theodore and Beulah (Holdbrooks) Auton, and Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Alice (Farmer) Pittman, and her devoted husband, Gordon.
After earning his Bachelor's degree, Gordon dedicated 30 years of his career to IBM as a systems engineer, a role in which he excelled and became a respected professional. Beyond his work, he was an avid football enthusiast, both as a spectator and a player, earning the nickname "Flash Gordon" from his teammates for his agility and speed on the field.
Vicky's academic achievements were crowned by earning her doctorate in Speech Pathology, a testament to her commitment to her profession and the many lives she touched. She shared a beautiful and enduring love story with her high school sweetheart, Gordon Auton, and cherished memories of her time as a baton twirler and cheerleader.
Their life was a testament to the power of a kind word, a clever joke, and a thoughtful insight. They will be deeply missed, and their light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved them.
