Gordana Blatnik, affectionately known as Grandma, was a beacon of resilience whose courageous spirit touched and inspired all who knew her. Born on the 31st of March, 1951, in Belgrade, Serbia, Gordana's journey was a testament of her indomitable spirit. She left her homeland with a heart full of dreams, immigrating to the United States, where she built a successful, fulfilling life. Gordana was a woman of profound faith. As a proud member of the Serbia Orthodox Christianity, she often found solace in the words from the Book of Psalms, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him." (Psalm 28:7)
A loving mother and a doting grandmother, Gordana was the embodiment of love and warmth. Her intelligence was a guiding light for her children, Bruce Blatnik, Nick Jeremy, Jennifer Blatnik, and Stephanie Blatnik. Gordana was widowed by her dear husband, Earl Oramous, and preceded in death by her ex-husbands Stefan Blatnik and Dusan Jeremic, but she filled her home with life, laughter, and delicious food. Her passion for cooking and her knack for fishing made her home in Jamaica Beach, Texas, a haven of comfort and merriment. She was smart, resourceful, and had a knack for numbers, qualities that made her an exceptional bookkeeper. Gordana was also a dedicated mentor, always willing to share her wisdom, strength, and courage with others.
Gordana's life was a radiant mosaic of triumphs, joy, and love. She was a testament to the power of resilience, the strength of courage, and the beauty of a loving heart. Her life's journey, from the streets of Belgrade, Serbia, to the serene shores of Jamaica Beach, Texas, was a testament to her unyielding spirit and her steadfast faith. In the words of her beloved Mormon faith, "Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you." (Doctrine and Covenants 68:6)
A Celebration of Life in Gordana's honor will be held on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at 2:00pm CDT at Carnes Funeral Home - CTC located at 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, Texas, 77591.
