Jo-Anna Reedy Obituary

Published by Legacy from Nov. 17 to Nov. 18, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jo-Anna Reedy,

a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and

friend, who departed this life on November 13, 2025, at the age of 74, after

a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Schenectady, NY, on May 14, 1951,

Jo-Anna was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Priscilla Winchester. Her

early years in Schenectady laid the foundation for a life full of love,

creativity, and dedication to her family.

Jo-Anna's journey led her to marry the love of her life, Ervin Reedy Jr., on

September 8, 1967. Their 58 years of marriage were marked by unwavering

support, laughter, and a deep bond that weathered all of life's storms.

Together, they created a warm and loving home filled with cherished

memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.

Jo-Anna's educational path concluded with a high school diploma, but her

thirst for knowledge and new experiences never waned. She embarked on a

fulfilling career at Alfred's Fabrics and later at the Schenectady Community

College Bookstore. Eventually, she turned her passion into her own business,

creating beautiful wooden crafts that showcased her artistic talents and

craftsmanship. Jo-Anna poured her heart into every piece she made, sharing

her creations with family and friends who treasured her handiwork.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Jo-Anna was a proud member of the

American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 1005 in Schenectady, NY. Her

commitment to service and her community was evident in all she did, as she

touched the lives of those around her with her kindness and generosity.

Jo-Anna enjoyed summers in their condo in Old Orchard Beach, ME, cruising

in her red Mustang convertible and as of late spending time at their vacation

home in Canyon Lake, TX. She had a passion for gardening at her former

home in Charlton, New York, at her current home in Galveston, around the

condo in Old Orchard Beach and at their lake house in Canyon Lake where

she found solace and joy among the flowers she nurtured. Jo-Anna will be

remembered for her macaroni and well liked meatballs made for the family

and burning the garlic bread for every Halloween family dinner.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ervin Reedy Jr., her son, James

(Laura) Stone, Jr., her grandchildren Jennifer (Daniel) Duke, James (Mary)

Stone III, Jason Stone and great grandchildren Ian, Gavin, Owen and Piper

Duke, her sister Sue (Kelvin) Jackson, her brother Joseph (Mary Jane)

Winchester, her brother Clifton (Deborah) Winchester, and her half-brother

Edward (Joyce) Winchester. Jo-Anna was preceded in death by her parents,

her beloved brother Jules Winchester, her dear sister Mary Burroughs and

her cherished grandson Josh Stone. She is also survived by many nieces,

nephews and friends.

As we remember Jo-Anna, we celebrate a life richly lived-a life filled with

love, laughter, and creativity. She will be deeply missed by all who had the

privilege of knowing her. In honor of her memory, the family kindly requests

that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s

Place, Memphis, TN 38105. An organization that was close to Jo-Anna's

heart.

May her spirit continue to inspire us to appreciate the beauty in life and to

cherish our loved ones. Jo-Anna Reedy will forever remain in our hearts, a

shining example of love, resilience, and creativity. Rest in peace dear Jo-

Anna.
