Gordon (Gordie) R. Bowers, 90, husband of Janice Ramsey Bowers, of Beaufort, SC, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his residence.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 5-7pm at Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 11:00am in Carl Anderson Memorial Chapel with inurnment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Bowers was born on September 18, 1935 in Enfield, NY. He is the son of the late Gordon Bowers and Mary Albanese Bowers.
His family loved hearing his memories of the one room schoolhouse at Enfield Center. Through the memories, the family also enjoyed his laughter telling about playful pranks he and his friends would get themselves into.
Soon after graduation, Parris Island was his next venture where he served honorably with the United States Marine Corp. During his enlisted years, he met Janice Ramsey who instantly became the love of his life. They most recently celebrated 69 years of marriage in August.
Gordie started Bowers Plumbing and Heating in 1962. Soon after, he then spent the next 56 years employed by Mitchell Bros Inc.
Gordie served as Chairman of the Board of Beaufort County's Solid Waste and Recycling, as well as serving for 14 years as a Chairman and Commissioner of the Lady's Island St Helena Fire District. He was a Master Mason for 55 years. He was a past master of Port Royal Lodge No. 242. He also proudly held the distinction of being the longest customer of Harvey's Barbershop where his signature flat-top was touched up of every other week since the mid 1950's.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Jan; are two sons, Gordon C. Bowers and Richard Bowers; two brothers, Tim and Jeff Bowers; two sisters, May Lou Henry and Betty Hagin; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kim Bowers.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Craig Floyd and Christina for their unwavering support.
