Gordon Gene Doughty, 73, passed away on September 22, 2025 at Bayou Chateau Nursing Home in Simmsport, Louisiana, after living courageously with vascular dementia. A devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend, Gordon will be remembered for his quick smile, mischievous humor, and steadfast faith.

Born on June 5, 1952, at Kirtland Air Force Base in Alburquerque, New Mexico, he was the first son of James M. Doughty and Iris Williams Doughty. Gordon graduated from Lafargue High School and soon moved with his family to the Canary Islands, Spain, where he met and married Carmen ("Mincie") Gozalez Garcia. In 1972, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served three years as a military technician. While in Spain, Gordon and Carmen welcomed two beloved sons, Julian Gene and Williams Gene.

After returning to the States, Gordon built a career in the oil fields with Brown & Root. Following his retirement, he delighted in traveling across Louisiana, often on the road with Maxine as she painted murals - a season of life filled with miles, stories, and laughter. A member of the House of Mercy Pentecostal Church in Marksville, Gordon loved the Lord and leaned on his faith through every circumstance.

Those who knew Gordon knew that if he was teasing you, it was because he cared. He loved to laugh and to draw others into that joy, and he loved his family with all his heart.

Gordon is survived by his first wife, Carmen Gozalez Garcia; their sons, Julian Gene Gozalez and Williams Gene Gozalez; his grandson, Adriàn William Gene Santana; his step children Deborah Rabalais and Donald Willis; and his siblings, Katherine Iris Adkison, Gracie L. Paga, and Carl C. Doughty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maxine, and his brother, James Manuel Doughty.

A Going Home Celebration will be held at the Fresh Oil Worship Center, 12600 LA-1, Oil City, LA, 71061, on October 3, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Johnathan Kinder officiating.
