Gordon D. “Gordie” Lutz, a cherished husband, father, son, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 15, 2025, at MyMichigan Medical Center of Midland. He was born on November 8, 1957, in Bay City, Michigan, and made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
For forty-one years, Gordie dedicated himself to his work as a Greenskeeper at Spring Valley Golf Course. His passion for golf extended beyond his profession; he relished spending time on the course and instilled this love in his family. One of his favorite pastimes was taking his children and grandchildren on golf cart rides, moments filled with joy and laughter that they will cherish forever.
Gordie enjoyed a life rich with hobbies and interests. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and bonfires with family and friends. These activities not only reflected his adventurous spirit but also his deep appreciation for the outdoors and the company of loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Phoebe Lutz; his beloved children, Karissa (Chandler Tennison) Lutz, Taylor (Joe Emmendorfer) Lutz, and Quinn (Braden Maples) Lutz; his mother, Fran Lutz; and his treasured grandchildren, Maura Tennison and Roman Tennison. Gordon was also a proud brother, leaving behind Doug (Lynnette LeBourdais) Lutz, Aaron Lutz, Pat (Mike) Davert, and Pam (Dennis) Emery. He will be missed by his aunts, Katherine Weiler, Barbara Gromaski, Bonnie Cavins, and Heidi Cavins; his special sister-in-law, Ruthie (Mike Martin) Ostrander; his special nephew, Joshua Ostrander and special niece, Phoebe Kannisto; along with many other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gordie was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Lutz.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Gephart Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to Cancer Services of Midland (400 Ashman St. Suite 200, Midland, MI 48640).
