With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gordon H. Montigny, a cherished husband, father, friend, and mentor, who left this world on December 17th, 2023, at the age of 65. Born and raised in
Southbridge, MA, Gordon was a proud alumnus of Southbridge High School, Class of 1976, whose spirit and kindness touched all who knew him.
Gordon is survived by his adoring wife, Michelle M. (Fournier) Montigny, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond of love and companionship. Their connection was deeply spiritual and emotional, a rare and beautiful love that transcended the ordinary. He leaves behind his beloved son, Michael G. Montigny of Southbridge, who was not only his child but his best friend and confidant. Gordon's legacy is also carried on by his brothers, Glenn J. Montigny and his wife Barbara, Keith L. Montigny, stepchildren Marissa Duval and David Duval, and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A man of many talents and passions, Gordon was known for his incredible generosity, brightening every room with his humor and warmth. He had a remarkable ability to help others, offering both his time and wisdom unconditionally. Gordon's love for music was a lifelong journey, playing in bands like Wizard and The Attractions, and sharing his love for music with his son, Michael. Their unforgettable performance at Lazo's Cafe in December 2022 remains a testament to their bond and Gordon's enduring spirit.
Professionally, Gordon was a respected figure at Dell/EMC, where he played a pivotal role in elevating their education department to national recognition. His earlier career at A&W Metal Fabricators showcased his dedication and skill, marking nearly two decades of commitment.
Beyond his professional achievements and community involvement, Gordon had a profound love for animals, cherishing the companionship and joy they brought into his life. Most recently, he shared a special bond with his beloved Golden Retriever, Sasha, who was like a daughter to him. Sasha's presence brought immense happiness to his days, and her passing in October of this year was a sorrowful moment in a year of challenges. The unconditional love and loyalty he shared with his pets mirrored the depth of care he extended to all his relationships.
Gordon's love for life extended to sports, especially football. While he loved to play golf with his best friends more than anything else, he also enjoyed playing fantasy football and was an active member of the Southbridge softball community. His hobbies included playing music, listening to music, and flipping houses, showcasing his diverse interests and talents.
Gordon's legacy is defined by his unconditional love and loyalty to his friends, family, and especially his wife Michelle and son Michael. His life was a living example of compassion and unwavering support, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.
