STAR LAKE- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Newtown who left this world peacefully on August 5, 2025, at the age of 93. Gordon was born on June 5, 1932, in the Parishville Area, New York, where he would go on to carve out a life rich with love, laughter and purpose.

Gordon dedicated over 35 years of his life to the Newtown Falls Paper Mill, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment. He retired from the mill, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and camaraderie. His colleagues remember him not only for his dedication but also for his kindness and willingness to lend a hand to those in need.

A resident of Star Lake, New York, for over 70 years, Gordon found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. One of his favorite pastimes was picking wild blueberries, a tradition that brought him endless joy and satisfaction. These moments spent in nature were a reflection of his love for the environment and the peace it brought him.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his devoted son Dean; and his daughter Kim; his sister Sonja Shampine. He was grandfather to eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife Anita Newtown, his brother Gary Newtown; and his sister Janice Copenhagen. Their memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, dear Gordon. You will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In keeping with Gordon's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake. Condolences may be shared online at www.frenchfuneralhomes.com.
