Gordon William Rehse

Gordon William Rehse, 84, of Bonita Springs, FL, peacefully went to meet his Lord and Savior on February 1, 2025.
Gordon is survived by his beloved wife Lynda, née Wheelock, and his two sons David (Marcy) and Robert (Melinda). He was a proud grandfather (aka 'Poppy' and 'Pa') to four grandchildren: Emma (20), Katelyn (16), and twins Luken and Sayer (14). He is also survived by his cousin Marilyn (Dave) Belasco of Estero, FL.
Born on February 19, 1940, Gordon was the only child of August and Esther Rehse. He graduated from Lutheran High School East and went on to pursue bachelor and master's degrees at both The University of Michigan and The Chrysler Institute, where he studied Mechanical and Automotive Engineering. Gordon held positions in Engineering Management at The Chrysler Corporation and Nissan Motors.
Gordon and Lynda were married in Detroit in 1966. They raised their two sons in Michigan for twenty years and then moved to Tennessee, where Gordon retired from Nissan Motors after forty years in the automotive industry.
Upon retirement, Florida called and Gordon and Lynda moved to The Worthington Country Club in Bonita Springs where they spent 25 happy years. Surrounded by many friends, Gordon was an avid golfer and bocce and card player.
Traveling was Gordon's passion and he and Lynda logged thousands of miles seeing North America in their conversion van. From five-star hotels to tent camping under the stars, Gordon and Lynda were enthusiastic about it all. They managed to visit all fifty states in the U.S. as well as all of Canada's ten provinces and their capitals.
While he had many loving relationships with family and friends, God always came first in Gordon's life. He was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs, FL where he served as a church elder, usher, and chairman of the Building Committee.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8 at 10:00 AM at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home 28300 S Tamiami Trail, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.
An interment service will follow at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Nashville, TN on Monday, February 10. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lynda's American Heart Association Beach Ride in Gordon's honor.
