Gordon J. Rohr
1941-2023
North Grosvenordale - Gordon J Rohr, 82 of
N. Grosvenordale, Ct passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1st in Dudley, Ma knowing he was loved and surrounded by his family.
Gordon was a man of conviction – he held true to who he was and how he felt, loved those that knew him dearly and would always offer his advice and guidance to all that would listen.
He was born in February of 1941 at home in
Webster, MA, to the late Ernest C Rohr and Marion (Welch) Rohr. Gordon was a Proud Marine, serving until June 30, 1965 when he was honorably discharged.
Being fastidious and precise made him excel as a clothing cutter, working for several clothing companies in Worcester for close to 40 years until his retirement. His enthusiasm for cars led to him meticulously restoring a 77 El Camino, 64 Thunderbird, & 69 Ford XL. He could often be seen tooling around in his little black Miata. He enjoyed many trips with the guys to Carlisle PA searching for the right parts to build the various cars he restored.
In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling with the Thompson Raceway Riders and always enjoyed a good round of golf. He vacationed on the island of Islesboro Maine for over 40 years and helped restore a cottage on the island, he enjoyed kayaking on different lakes throughout Maine, loved the Space Shuttle launches in Florida, Cape Cod and swimming wherever there was a lake or a pool.
On July 30, 1973 he married Rita Groh Rohr and this year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary.
He generously gave his love to the family he leaves behind – Joseph L Valade & Linda,
Woodstock, CT, Wayne Valade, Putnam, Ct, Jacqueline Sujdak & John, Dudley, MA, Michelle Marcinczyk & Richard, Dudley, Ma and Gregory Rohr &
Dana, Illinois. He was the proud grandfather of Randy, Kayla, Troy, Chelsea, Jared, Anthony, Alexandria, Logan & Emma. And the proud great grandfather of: Cameron, Riley, Matthew & Adrien. He was thankful for his brother Ernest Rohr,
Webster, MA and a sister Nancy Surrette of Dudley, MA. and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Richard and sister in law Carmel Rohr and was looking forward to seeing his son Kevin Valade once again and his beloved furry companion Tara.
