Gordon Lee Scharver, age 85, passed away on September 12, 2025. He went home to be with God, and his late wife of 61 yrs of marriage, Joanne Rita (Henry) Scharver who died in 2020. He was a devout catholic with a deep love and respect for Jesus. Gordon was born September 22, 1939 and grew up in Perry Twp. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Francis (Berlyoung) Scharver; his brothers, Howard Scharver and Dale Scharver; son-in-law, Glen Rouse; and daughter-in-law, Pearl Scharver.

Gordon was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard after serving from1957-59, and a member of the Jaycees in the 70's. He was Senior Technician in Research and Design. He retired from the Timken Co. after 32 yrs of service. He retired again after 20 yrs of service at the Stark Truss Co. Gordon was the most intelligent, strong and innovative man with an impeccable work ethic. There was nothing he couldn't create, build or fix. He worked hard to support his family. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed cookouts and breakfasts with his family, summer concerts, boating and telling many stories of his life. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his family.

Gordon is survived by his five children, Victoria (Mark) Arbuckle of Washington State, James (Andrea) Scharver of Alabama, Barbara (Scottie) Heter of New Phila Ohio, Michael (April) Scharver of Florida, Ann Scharver of Canton Ohio; and many grand and great grandchildren. Gordon has been cremated and kept with his family.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2427 Tuscarawas St. W, Canton, OH 44708 with Fr. Edward Beneleit officiating. Internment at Calvary Cemetery and luncheon to follow at St. Joseph Church Hall. Please visit www.reedfuneralhome.com to sign the online guestbook.
