Gordy Smith

Gordy Smith Age 79, of Somerset, WI, formerly of Rice Lake, WI, died Thursday, November 21, 2024 in New Richmond, WI. He was born on April 3, 1945 in Rice Lake to Ralph and Amy (Saam) Smith. Gordy graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1963 and attended and graduated from Barron County Teachers College. He was married to Luella Becker on February 21, 1976 in Rice Lake. Gordy worked as a truck driver for Holsum Bakery, the Rice Lake Fruit Company, and then worked in the Janitorial Department for the Rice Lake School District. He enjoyed going to his cabin, deer hunting, boating on Long Lake, mowing his lawn, grilling, being with his grandchildren, and walking Oliver Jones and later Clark. He is survived by his wife, Luella Smith; a daughter, Lisa Cheaney; the treasurers of his life were his granddaughters, Allison (Nick), Caitlyn, Anna (Noah) and Mikayla; a great granddaughter, Gabriella; a brother, Len (Linda) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Amy Smith; and a sister, Barbara Peterson. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake is serving and assisting the family with the arrangements.
