Govan Thomas Snead, Jr. was born on February 13, 1973 to Pastor Wanda Snead – Nichols and the late Apostle Govan Snead, Sr. He left this earthly tabernacle on December 21, 2024 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He attended Accomack County Public Schools and later in life, he pursued a degree in Computer Science and Culinary Arts. In 2004, he married the lady of his dreams, Teresa. God blessed the union and they were able to spend twenty years together. This union was truly a relationship that was loved and adored by the both of them. There wasn't anything that Govan wouldn't do for his wife, going above and beyond to make sure she was always taken care of and likewise she did the same. They were very devoted to each other. Govan loved to surprise Teresa with gifts always making sure each holiday was special, especially Valentine's Day.
He was reared in ministry under the leadership of his late father, Apostle Govan Snead, where he served as the Minister of Music. Govan had a great passion for ministry. he loved playing the keyboard, he played for numerous churches in the surrounding areas. Very skilled at what he did one of his favorite things to do was to play with his brothers, Reggie and Eugene. When the three of them were together playing, the music was so anointed and everyone in the service had good old shouting time.
He had many hobbies such as; fishing, cooking, handy work, and he also loved to entertain. Govan loved cutting grass on his zero turn, simply loving outdoor tasks, always making sure his yard was looking good. he loved spending time with his family. One thing about Govan he was a giver, it gave him great pleasure to cook or to provide food for anyone that he thought was in need especially the elderly. Grilling was a must during the summer time and he would do it everyday if possible, making sure all his family was straight and didn't need anything. Govan had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need always offering a willing hand. You couldn't tell him he couldn't cook because he was the best on the Eastern Shore.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his devoted wife, Teresa Snead; two daughters, Alicia Snead and Alexea Snead; four sons, Hakeem Wharton, Josiah Disharoon, Brashawn Bailey, and Keshawn Bailey; grandchildren, Aubrey Snead, Carter Davis, Latrell Wharton, Amari Bailey, Araiya Bailey, Alayah Bailey, and Aiden Bailey; his mother, Pastor Wanda Snead-Nichols (Hugh); one sister, Takasha Howell (Lonnie); two brothers, Dalton Snead (India) and Robert Wise; in-laws, Pastor Martha Bailey (Ross); two sisters-in-love, Tammy Ward (Eric) and Cassandra Bailey; two uncles, Henry (Sharone) Johnson and Robert Scarborough; five aunts, Arlene Purnell, Rose Tyler, Leontyne Beaty, Shelia Washington, and Sharina (Winfield) Duffy; god sister, Elder Dawn Thomas; god mother, Gladys Williams; god father, Samuel Boggs; two best friends, Reginald Williams (Marsha) and Eugene Dashiell (Nicole); and a host of nieces and nephews.
