Grace Carlton (Lunney), age 92, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Greenville, Texas. Born on March 26, 1933, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Grace lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to her country, and a deep love for the simple joys of home.

Grace proudly served in the Women's Army Corps and was stationed at SHAPE (Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe) in Paris, France. There she worked as a switchboard operator supervisor-a role that reflected her strong sense of duty and leadership. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Harry L. Carlton. The two were married on April 1, 1957, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Their union was one of enduring partnership and affection until Harry's passing in June of 1999.

After her military service, Grace embraced the role of homemaker with passion and dedication. She created a warm and welcoming home where family gathered often and memories were made daily. Her talents in the kitchen were well known among those close to her-her cooking brought comfort and joy to many over the years. In quieter moments, she found solace in reading and crocheting, hobbies that reflected her thoughtful nature and creative spirit.

Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry L. Carlton; her parents George Washington Lunney and Grace Elinor Devereaux Lunney; her daughter Kathleen Patricia Miller; and sons Philip Carlton and Keith Carlton.

She is lovingly remembered by her son Bruce Carlton; daughter Ada Shaleen Wingler and son-in-laws Eric Miller and Curtis Wingler; grandchildren Jeremy Miller and wife Kristin, Andrew Carlton, and Taylor Carlton; as well as great-grandchild Matthias Carlton.

Grace will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, and unwavering passion for those she held dear. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured with care.

Interment services will be held at a later date at Haven of Memories in Canton, Texas.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
