Grace Harold, 84, of Smithtown, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025 surrounded by her family. Grace was married to the love of her life Bill until his passing in 2000, their anniversary one day after her passing for them to be reunited again. She was a devoted mother of Lorraine (Wilson) Freire, Denise (William) White, William Harold, and Robert (Nichole) Harold, cherished grandmother of James Freire (Jessica), Cheryl (Tim) Gannon, Larry Harte (Kevin), Michelle (William) Gilmartin, Danielle (Stephen) Wokanick, Rebekah and Liam Harold, and great grandmother of Mia, Aiman, Declan, Kiera, Ruby, Bruce, Grace, and George.
Grace dedicated her life to caring for others, especially new mothers and their babies serving as a registered nurse in the NICU unit spending most of her career at Good Samaritan Hospital. Known for her compassion and knowledge, she touched the lives of countless new mothers with her dedication to her craft as a lactation consultant. She was proud of the 100 page manual that she created with the help of another nurse, Judy O’Shea. She was a mentor to many young nurses, sharing her wisdom and experience with them. Beyond her nursing career, Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, and above all things hearing about her family. Grace had an unwavering faith in God and her faith guided her in all her endeavors. Grace's legacy of kindness and compassion will be deeply missed. A funeral mass will be held on June 14, 2025 at 9:30am at St. Thomas Moore Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in her honor.
