Grace Harris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Magner Funeral Home, Inc. - Norwalk on Feb. 24, 2026.
Grace Ulrich Harris passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the age of 95. Grace was born in East Orange, New Jersey on June 14, 1930 to the late Arthur and Viola Ulrich and spent her childhood years in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Grace, like her four siblings, proudly attended and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she met her husband Prescott "Buzz" Harris, whom she married in 1952. They were happily married, residing in Norwalk, Connecticut, until Buzz's death in 2010.

Grace is survived by her son Dana J. Harris (Carole) and her daughter Gail Harris Zolluccio (Orrie). Grace was blessed with four grandchildren: Jessica Nayden, Kate Jaegle, Sara Martin, and Evan Harris, along with her great-grandchildren: Leo, Eli, Clara, Eleanor, Jack, Felix, and a baby girl due in the spring. She is also survived by her brother Arthur Ulrich of New Canaan, Connecticut. Grace is predeceased by her sisters Ruth Evelyn Coffin, Helen Viola Coorssen, and Muriel Grace Weeks.

After raising her two children, Grace re-entered the workforce and spent 25 years in the banking business in various positions, ending her career as assistant vice president and manager at a local office. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and involved in local organizations. Grace was a member of the Shore and Country Club for over 60 years where she enjoyed playing tennis and bridge and loved hosting her family for special events.

In her later years, Grace frequently attended the Norwalk Senior Center where she played bridge, joined the active knitting group, and made many friends. She looked forward to going back to Maine for family reunions that were special to her, as she loved spending time with family and reminiscing. Grace appreciated a good Maine-style lobster roll, an occasional Bloody Mary, and celebrating the many wins of the UConn Huskies' Women's Basketball Team.

Grace will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who treasured their time with her, and deeply appreciated her kindness, sense of humor, and loving care for everyone who knew her. In lieu of flowers, Grace requested donations in her honor be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation and the Norwalk Senior Center.

The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
